Blue, terracotta and white coated sample panels on a stainless work surface.

Product Overview

KOBOND™ 3069 contains multiple pigment-affinic groups that adsorb onto pigment surfaces, while its polymer chains provide compatibility with coating resins. It promotes wetting and stabilization, helps reduce millbase viscosity and pigment reflocculation, and is suitable for UV-curable formulations.

Key Features

  • Promotes pigment wetting and stabilization.
  • Helps reduce millbase viscosity and improve flow.
  • Supports higher pigment loading and storage stability.
  • Helps limit pigment reflocculation.
  • Particularly effective for carbon black and suitable for UV-curable systems, as described in the TDS.

Selected values from the original TDS. Refer to that document for conditions and whether values are typical or specification limits.

Typical Applications

  • Medium- to high-polarity coatings, inks and pigment concentrates.
  • Dispersion of organic pigments, carbon black, inorganic pigments and titanium dioxide.
  • UV-curable and other solvent-free formulation systems.

Technical Considerations

Preferably add to the millbase before introducing the pigment. Thoroughly mix with the resin or grinding medium, then add the pigment. Optimize the addition level according to pigment type, specific surface area and required millbase viscosity, and evaluate compatibility and performance in the final formulation.

Reported properties are typical, not specifications. Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat. The stated shelf life in original unopened containers is 24 months from production. Refer to the current SDS before handling.
